Dallas chef Nick Badovinus posted a message on the website of his Dallas steakhouse Town Hearth to alert diners that one of its servers tested positive this week for COVID-19. The Design District restaurant is temporarily closed for business and does not appear to be offering takeout.
The message begins by describing the circumstances of the Town Hearth employee’s illness:
We found out late yesterday on March 18th that one of our servers at Town Hearth tested positive for the Coronavirus.
The server told us that they didn’t feel well on Friday, March 13th and we immediately sent them home. We’ve checked in with the server who said they are doing well.
Nevertheless, I’m extremely concerned about this employee, about our customers and about everyone who worked at the restaurant. That’s why I wanted to tell you about this personally so we can get the word out and be as transparent as possible.
Badovinus writes that the staff is aware of the situation and that the team plans “to do everything we can” to let diners know that if they visited the restaurant between February 28 and March 13, they may have been exposed to the coronavirus.
“My number one focus right now is the safety and well-being of our staff and customers,” he wrote, continuing: “I just want to remind people how important it is to stay home and to limit their contact with others so we can beat this virus and get our community back to normal.”
